SPOKANE, Wash. — A suspect in a drive-by shooting has pleaded guilty and was sentenced to more than a month in jail.
According to Spokane County Court, Harlen Cariss shot someone after an argument escalated into a drive-by shooting.
Cariss will serve 33 days in jail, starting on Jan. 3. The court noted that his sentence was lighter due to his offender score of zero, indicating he has no serious criminal history.
The case stems from when officers responded to the 3000 block of East Jackson Street after a reported argument. The Spokane Police Department said Cariss was accused of assaulting someone. The victim’s father confronted Cariss, and police said Cariss then pulled a gun on him.
Cariss’s mother and brother arrived at the scene, and an argument ensued. Cariss then shot at the victim’s father before driving away. Cariss was later arrested.
