KELLER, Wash. – The Swawilla Fire is 65% contained and has burned 50,000 acres as of Friday morning.

According to the Colville Tribes Environmental Trust Program, fuel sources for the fire have been carefully removed, helping mitigate the growth of the fire.

Crews plan to mop up areas around Highway 21 while continuing to utilize helicopters to address hot sports throughout the day.

The nearby Bridge Creek fire is 55% contained and has burned nearly 4,000 acres.

Drones being flown around fires impede the ability of air crews to address them. The Environmental Trust reminded residents of a Temporary Flight Restriction issued for the area that remains in effect.
