Taking a Multi-Generational Trip? Try Staying at Different Resorts

0

A whopping 74% of parents embrace the idea of taking a multi-generational vacation. 55% currently swap trips with just the kids for getaways that include the grandparents along too.

It’s just a little of the recent data from Beaches Resorts. Travel spanning the generations, which skyrocketed in popularity during and after the pandemic, is a trend that is here to stay.

But everyone wants their own space, especially on vacation — some childless multi-generational travelers even stay at a different hotel or resort from the rest of the family to ensure they get it.

Savvy hotel and resort brands are figuring out new ways to make that possible, finding unique ways to give every member of the family the space they crave without losing the connection they need.

The Rise of the Multi-Generational Trip

Taking multi-generational trips has been a significant travel trend since even before the pandemic. Instead of a traditional family reunion, a vacation is a great way to gather after an extended time apart from distant family members. It’s more important than ever that resorts cater to this style of travel. More than half of all parents are more likely to book a resort catering more towards multi-generational travel than those that don’t.

Beachfront resorts, which still tend to be one of the most popular destinations for multi-generational getaways, increasingly offer ways to both disconnect and connect with family. With its “Stay at One, Play at Two” concept, Hideaway at Royalton Resorts offers an exciting way to make that happen. While resorts with adults-only spaces are nothing new, the growing brand takes it to a new level.

Hideaway at Royalton Resorts

Part of Blue Diamond Resorts, the Caribbean’s fastest-expanding resort chain, Hideaway at Royalton Resorts is just one of several brands within the group’s rapidly growing portfolio. It offers a range of options for travelers, from budget-friendly resorts in Cuba to the brand-new adults-only Royalton CHIC Antigua, which just debuted a collection of luxe overwater bungalows.

Royalton Resorts’ Hideaways are adults-only but come with a fascinating caveat that makes them particularly appealing for a multi-generational trip. Guests at Hideaway by Royalton Resorts properties can access a family-friendly Royalton resort located right next door.

The newest Hideaway property debuted last fall along pristine shores outside Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Hideaway at Royalton Blue Waters is an ideal retreat for adults, providing a private, serene ambiance perfect for rekindling relationships and enjoying a peaceful escape,’ explains Kerry Ann Quallo Casserly, Regional Commercial Director, Jamaica for Blue Diamond Resorts.

“However, its proximity to the family-friendly Royalton Blue Waters allows for easy access to a livelier atmosphere, giving guests the flexibility to switch between tranquility and a more dynamic, family-oriented environment.”

The new resort is freshly refurbished, revamped, and rebranded; an all-inclusive property along one of the Caribbean coastline’s most popular stretches. It offers 352 rooms and suites, along with a spacious spa, fitness center, all-inclusive non-motorized water sports, and plenty of entertainment day and night.

It sits immediately beside Royalton Blue Waters, a family-friendly resort complete with a waterpark, kids’ club, and plenty to do for all family members. Unrestricted access to both properties for Hideaway guests means families can easily share time throughout their stay while also enjoying their own space — with the adults appreciating a little extra peace and quiet.

Guests can even upgrade to Diamond Club status for benefits like preferred room locations, butler service, and lounge access. The resort also recently introduced a new Private Island Diamond Experience for Diamond Club guests looking for even more seclusion and luxury.

Beyond Family Friendly

Of course, many visitors to Hideaway at Royalton Blue Waters do not visit with family but come for the fun, adults-only atmosphere and amenities. The enhanced dining options of the dual layout are a benefit anyone can enjoy, a highlight for more than half of travelers across all generations who cite culinary experiences as a top focus during their travels.

In addition to the comprehensive renovation of the property prior to its debut last year, the resort “also expanded our dining offerings to provide more exclusive options for adults,” says Casserly, mentioning the introduction of signature seafood grill, Dorado — the first of its kind in the Montego Bay region — as well as new West Indies restaurants and more, in addition to the restaurants that guests have access to on the Royalton Blue Waters property.

The Hideaway at Royalton Resorts brand now has five distinct locations in some of the most desirable destinations in the Caribbean, offering plenty of options for the next family trip.

“When traveling with family and friends, there shouldn’t be a trade-off between the privacy of an adults-only getaway and the enjoyment of being with a multi-generational family,” says Casserly. “The beauty of the side-by-side layout at Hideaway [properties] eliminates this trade-off.” It’s great news whether for a parents-only escape or bringing the grandparents in tow.
