WALLACE, Idaho – A teacher found a box containing a gun while her students were picking up trash near a creek Monday.
According to the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office, the teacher gave the gun to a resource officer at her school.
The sheriff’s office says that the gun was reported stolen in Montana last week and that no suspects have been arrested in connection to the theft.
“We do not expect any threat to the school at this time,” the office said.
The school where the incident took place was not disclosed by the sheriff’s office, nor was the exact location where the firearm was found.
This is a developing story. More information will appear as available.
