FRUITLAND, Idaho – Michael Vaughan went missing three years ago on July 27, 2021. If he is still alive, he is eight years old.

Idaho Governor Brad Little (R) commemorated Vaughan’s memory during a Friday ceremony marking the enhancement of Idaho’s emergency alert system.

“Idahoans continue to grieve the disappearance of Michael ‘Monkey’ Vaughan,” Little said via social media.

The City of Fruitland Police Department also marked the disappearance of Vaughan on Friday.

“The case remains very active. While we have already submitted our case to the Payette County Prosecutor, our primary goal is to continue our efforts in solving this case,” the department said.

Fruitland Police Chief JD Huff told the Idaho Statesman in Dec. 2022 that he believed Vaughn was likely deceased and that his remains were removed from a backyard within city limits.

Anyone with information on Vaughan’s whereabouts can call the Fruitland Police Department at (208) 452-3110.
