FORT MYERS, Fla. – A tornado has touched down in Fort Myers, causing damage in the area known for its tourism.
The tornado, stemming from winds in Hurricane Milton, left its mark on the town two hours south of Tampa.
A local resident who witnessed the tornado, described the harrowing experience.
“I saw the tornado coming, I yell if my wife can look at it, it’s cool,” he said. “Kid, wife can look at it so close. Hit the trees and we all started going for the hallway, didn’t even make it there in time.”
Amidst the chaos, the resident recalled a terrifying moment when the tornado hit.
“I heard a piece of glass crack and sucked the whole roof off,” he said. “And I felt the thing suck me up and I grabbed my kid and my wife and hunkered down.”
