Truck crash in State Route 26 work zone causes disruption

COLFAX, Wash. – A truck hauling grain crashed into a maintenance work zone on State Route 26 west of Colfax at milepost 126 today.

According to the Washington State Department (WSDOT), the incident occurred on Aug. 15, while crews were responding to a previous incident that day. The truck went around, stopped traffic and entered the work zone, where it crashed with the trailer, causing it to disconnect from the semi.

WSDOT said that the flagger on duty reported the situation via radio, allowing the other flagger to stop traffic in the opposite direction. Maintenance crews had to quickly move to safety. The semi-driver attempted to leave the scene, but crew members managed to block the truck. Emergency services were notified, and no injuries were reported.
