Two dogs die in a complicated structure fire in Soap Lake

SOAP LAKE, Wash. – A fire burned down a structure on Tuesday, killing two dogs and posing a threat to a nearby community.

The Grant County Fire District responded to the structure fully engulfed in flames near Main Avenue and Elder Street around 6 p.m.

Firefighters observed downed and active powerlines near the fire that complicated the response and made it difficult to attack.

Two sets of teams took on the fire with one team focusing on the active flames and the other working on the threat and controlling exposure to the area.

The occupants and one dog inside the structure escaped without injury, but two dogs died inside.

The cause of the fire was determined as electrical.
