SPOKANE, Wash. – Two people were arrested on Saturday for allegedly stealing a Chevy Tahoe at gunpoint in the Spokane Valley.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, a group of people were in an SUV in a local parking lot at around 1 pm when their SUV was suddenly commandeered by a man and woman wearing masks, one of whom was allegedly wielding a gun.
The group in the vehicle was forced out and purportedly watched it leave the lot.
A Washington State Patrol (WSP) trooper reportedly saw the vehicle speeding near Knox and Argonne. The trooper pulled the vehicle over and arrested Elissa York, who was standing beside the SUV and claimed that she did not know the driver according to law enforcement.
A second WSP officer arrested Shawn Cranford nearby, who allegedly jumped a fence in an attempt to evade officers.
Cranford is in Spokane County Jail on robbery and assault charges. York is also in jail on a felony criminal conspiracy charge.
