SPOKANE, Wash. – Two Spokane hospitals have been issued civil fines by the Washington State Department of Health with further legal action pending.
The MultiCare Deaconess Hospital and the MultiCare Valley Hospital owe a combined total of 31k for allegedly not submitting their hospital staffing committee charter on time.
Both of the hospitals missed the deadline four times, and the Department of Health added an additional $15,000 to the total cost for the fifth missed deadline on Dec. 11.
The WSDOH says that the hospitals charter has still not been submitted, and they remain in violation of the law.
The law that was recently passed outlines improvements for workplace environments, enforcing mandatory overtime and rest breaks, and expanding staffing including nurses.
NonStop Local has reached out to MultiCare for a comment and have not heard back.
