RITZVILLE, Wash. – The U.S. Marshals and the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, alongside other agencies, apprehended a wanted fugitive who had violated his supervision conditions.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Jereme Joseph Bassett, a wanted fugitive, had a warrant issued against him on March 29 for violating his supervision conditions in Yakima.

Bassett had been sentenced and convicted in June 2010 by the Spokane County Superior Court for second-degree murder and assault of a child in connection with the murder of a 6-month-old infant.

After serving time in prison, Bassett was released and placed under court-ordered supervision by the Washington State Department of Corrections in Yakima.

On July 12, a team comprising the U.S. Marshals, Adams County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Border Patrol, and Washington State Department of Corrections located and arrested Bassett safely on his outstanding warrant in Ritzville, without incident.
