U.S. Marshals Service arrest Lapwai murder suspect hiding in Pendleton

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — The U.S. Marshals Service Greater Idaho Fugitive Task Force located and arrested a man charged with second degree murder who was hiding in Pendleton, Oregon.

20-year-old William Eyle was located in Pendleton on Nov. 27. He was wanted on a federal warrant issued by the U.S. District Court on Oct. 17.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Coeur d’Alene charged Eyle with murder in the second degree and use of a firearm during a crime of violence.

In May, Eyle allegedly shot a victim numerous times while on the Nez Perce Indian Reservation. He fled the scene and multiple agencies began searching for him.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) with help from other agencies located Eyle hiding in Pendleton. They contacted authorities in that jurisdiction to arrest him.

USMS Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force, the FBI, Umatilla Tribal Police, Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office, Pendleton Police Department, Oregon State Police and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service were on scene to safely apprehend Eyle.

With help from all these agencies 20-year-old William Eyle was safely detained.
