Upper Ruby Fire grows to 220 acres, roads closed

PEND OREILLE COUNTY, Wash. — The Upper Ruby Fire has expanded to 220 acres in the area around Tacoma Divide Road and Ruby Creek Road, prompting road closures and a significant response from firefighting teams.

The US Forest Service announced that roads in the affected region are closed due to the ongoing blaze.

Pend Oreille deputies said that firefighting efforts have been bolstered with air resources deployed to the scene. A Type 3 Incident Management Team has been ordered to coordinate the response and manage the incident effectively.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and no further details are available at this time.
