MOSCOW, Idaho – The community is gathering to remember four University of Idaho students who were murdered two years ago.

Kaylee Goncalves, Ethan Chapin, Madison Mogan, and Xana Kernodle lost their lives in an off-campus home on King Road in Moscow.

A vigil is set to take place tonight at 6:00 p.m. at the Vandal Healing Garden on the University of Idaho campus. The Student Union is hosting the event, which will include sharing memories, writing notes, and honoring the students’ legacies.

In an Instagram post, the Student Union expressed the difficulty of the past two years, stating, “It’s hard to believe that two years have passed since we lost four amazing Vandals, Xana, Ethan, Maddie, and Kaylee.”

Prosecutors allege that Bryan Kohberger is responsible for the deaths of the four students, who were stabbed on November 13, 2022. Kohberger was arrested a month and a half later at his parents’ home in Eastern Pennsylvania.

Kohberger faces four counts of murder and could receive the death penalty under Idaho law if convicted. However, his defense team is requesting that a judge remove the possibility of the death penalty. A ruling on this request has not yet been made.
