BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho Department of Labor said the average wage increased for all job occupations in the last year but that might not be the case for many northern Idaho residents.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Employment showed that a survey done showed an 8.3% increase from 2022 to 2023 for the state of Idaho.
For most job occupations that provides an over $2.00 an hour increase.
Although the DOL said this isn’t consistent across the state.
“All of Idaho’s Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) had an increase in median wage of over $1.00 from 2022 to 2023. However, average wages and staffing patterns vary across the state. The Boise MSA had the largest average hourly wage increase of $2.62 over the year.” said the DOL
Unfortunately, northern Idaho residents had the smallest gain studies show. Employment growth in north central Idaho increasing by only 2.1% with only 910 more people employed.
This is much less than the overall state employment growth at 3.2% with over 14,000 job opportunities popping up in western Idaho and Boise.
