GRANDJEAN, Idaho – The Wapiti Fire has burned 68,000 acres and caused a list of evacuations as of Sunday.
According to Wapiti Fire Information, those falling under Zone 3 evacuations will be allowed to meet Monday at 7 a.m. at the Highway 21 roadblock to get into the evac area and check in on their belongings.
“Residents will be escorted in and allowed one hour before being escorted out. Please note that this is contingent on fire activity,” the fire information system said.
The full list of updated evacuation levels can be found on the Custer County website. The US Forest Service and Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team are coordinating responses to the fire, which continued to burn at 0% containment into Sunday night.
