Washington and Idaho Planned Parenthood receives largest donation match in organization’s history

SPOKANE, Wash. – Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and Northern Idaho has announced the largest donation match it has received in the organization’s history.

According to Planned Parenthood, an anonymous donor will match contributions to the group up to $200,000 until July 30. The funding will go to patient navigators, who help those seeking abortion care move through a healthcare system that has grown more complicated since the repeal of Roe v. Wade.

Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and Northern Idaho exists in a particularly unique reproductive healthcare context given that it operates both in a state with strong protections for abortion services and a state where receiving an abortion can land a person in prison for up to five years.

While abortion may be illegal in Idaho, it hasn’t made Planned Parenthood any less busy in Washington. A University of Washington study published last month found that the number of people traveling to the Evergreen State to seek abortion care has jumped by 50% since the US Supreme Court allowed states to criminalize the procedure in 2022.
