Washington Democrats picking up Harris campaign virtual rally framework

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2024 run has built a strong digital footprint since A series of virtual rallies organized by her campaign have been co-opted by the Washington State Democratic Party with an upcoming “Washingtonians for Harris-Walz” event.

The Aug. 12 zoom call was organized by the Washington Indivisible Network (WIN), which is running an organizing and fundraising campaign to elect Harris. While the vice president herself will not be on the call, a number of high-profile Democrats from across the state will speak.

Funds from the digital rally will be split between Washington Democrats and the Harris Campaign according to WIN.

Harris has found a receptive audience for virtual rallies online which has and potential voters.

Similarly to Barack Obama’s innovative online donations framework in 2008 and Donald Trump’s consequential use of Twitter in 2016, Harris is differentiating her campaign with a new digital strategy that organizers hope will prove efficacious in defeating her opponent in November.

After the introduction of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate received positive reviews the upcoming virtual rally seems to signal that the regional party has coalesced around the Harris-Walz ticket. A statement on the event’s RSVP page laid out the goals for the call.

“Maintain and expand Washington’s majority in the state legislature and in the executive branch: flip and maintain the House and Senate; and win the White House in November,” the party said.
