Washington Free Fishing Weekend is June 8-9

OLYMPIA, Wash.-Washington residents can take to the water to enjoy some free fishing the weekend of June 8-9.

The annual Free Fishing Weekend, sponsored by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife allows anglers of any age to fish for trout and other warmwater fish species across the state without buying a license.

Anyone can fish for free on any public use body of water that allows fishing over the annual free fishing weekend.

Any fish that requires a catch record card will still require a license over the weekend, according to WDFW.

All rules pertaining to seasons, size and catch limits and area closures are still in effect and the WDFW urges all anglers to check the current regulations before hitting the water.

A vehicle access pass, Discover Pass and two-pole endorsement will also be waived during Free Fishing Weekend.
