OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington State Public Disclosure Commission has fined the Washington State Republican Party $5,000. The political party faced this penalty for not including sponsorship identification in a campaign text during 2023.
The commission’s report revealed further issues. The Washington Republicans did not disclose the source of contributions for the 2024 cycle. Additionally, the GOP allocated $100,000 to the Let’s Go Washington Ballot Measure Committee from an account with restrictions. The account in question is only meant for get-out-the-vote drivers, sample ballots, or internal costs.
This action by the commission highlights the importance of transparency in political financing. [Link placeholder for Washington State Public Disclosure Commission].
