Washington school districts embrace electric buses with state funding

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – School districts in Washington are making strides towards adopting electric buses.

Currently, 86 electric school buses are operating across 40 districts, including Walla Walla, according to the State Department of Ecology.

The state has allocated more than $35 million for additional electric buses. By 2026, an additional 124 electric buses are expected to be in operation, bringing the total to over 200 across the state.

This initiative highlights the state’s commitment to sustainable transportation solutions for school districts.
