SPOKANE, Wash. – The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has announced a chip seal project that will impact travel on multiple state routes in Eastern Washington.
As per WSDOT, crews will chip-seal various state routes across Spokane, Lincoln, Whitman, and Pend Oreille Counties starting on May 28 and continuing until August.
During construction, travelers should anticipate reduced speed advisories approaching the work zone and intermittent single-lane closures. Additionally, drivers may encounter one-way alternating traffic managed by flaggers at certain times.
WSDOT highlighted that the roads scheduled for chip sealing were last treated more than 10 years ago. With their surfaces now reaching the end of their service life, pavement repair is necessary.
According to WSDOT, the project’s overarching goal is to rehabilitate the roadways and extend their lifespan for years to come.
