OLYMPIA, Wash. – Washington is eligible for $20 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funding to make state infrastructure more resistant to flooding.

According to FEMA, the funding is part of a wider Biden Administration project to distribute $300 million to make marginalized communities more resistant to the effects of the climate emergency.

“Examples of projects eligible for this funding opportunity include property acquisition, demolition, elevation and relocation,” FEMA said.

Applications are open to local, state and tribal governments. Additional information on how the funding will be allocated is available on FEMA’s website.
