Washington State Parks celebrates 111 years

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Tuesday marks the 111th birthday of the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission (WSP).

WSP oversees 124 state parks across the Evergreen State according to the Office of the Governor.

To celebrate the commission’s birthday, entrance to Washington State Parks is free on March 19.

State parks and paths near Spokane include Riverside State Park, Mount Spokane and the Centennial trail.
