Washington State Patrol focusing on speeding, distracted/impaired driving during holiday break

PULLMAN, Wash. – As students head home for the holiday break, Washington State Patrol (WSP) will be focusing on speeding, distracted/impaired driving.

Emphasis patrols will begin Nov. 21 and run through Dec. 1, with troopers from District 4 and District 6, covering Spokane, Whiteman, Adams, Grant and Kittas counties focusing on collision-causing driving.

Drivers will see an increased WSP presence on State Routes 26 & 195 as well as Interstate 90 over Snoqualmie Pass.

If you are traveling for the holidays, WSP encourages you to pay close attention to posted speed limits and to be prepared for changing road and weather/winter driving conditions.

Anyone traveling over mountain passes are being told that good all-season snow tires and tire chains are advised and may even be required.
