WASHINGTON – Washington State Patrol is ramping up efforts to ensure safety on the roads during New Year’s celebrations. The agency is scheduling thousands of additional emphasis patrols across the state.
New Year’s Eve into New Year’s Day is recognized as one of the most dangerous times on the road nationwide. Statistics show a 71% increase in crashes attributed to drugs and alcohol compared to the rest of the year.
Washington State Patrol is urging drivers to remain sober and vigilant. “Drive sober and watch out for other drivers,” they said.
The patrol also emphasizes the importance of reporting any dangerous driving behaviors.
These increased patrols aim to keep highways clear of drunk drivers and enhance road safety for everyone during the holiday season.
