COLVILLE, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is investigating a shooting incident where a Stevens County deputy shot and killed a suspect on Friday.
According to WSP, the Criminal Investigation Division will handle the investigation involving the shooting death of a man by the deputy.
when the deputy responded to a call near the Stevens County Courthouse, as reported by the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office stated that a county prosecutor was attacked with a machete to the face. After the attack, the prosecutor called the police and identified the vehicle of the assailant.
The deputy located the suspect’s vehicle and approached it. Allegedly, the suspect tried to attack the deputy with the machete, prompting the deputy to fatally shoot him.
The Stevens County Sheriff’s Office mentioned that the prosecutor received several stitches and is expected to fully recover. The names of the deputy and the suspect have not been disclosed.
