SPOKANE, Wash. – Washington Street is closed from 7th to 6th Avenue due to a water main break on Tuesday that caused local flooding.
Construction crews on scene reported the break around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, which caused some flooding to local drains. They are working to manage the situation and clear the area.
The investigation into the safety and structure of the road is what crews says is delaying the opening as they begin to backfill.
Crews hope to open two lanes by the evening commute. However, the full reopening of the street may take longer.
Drivers are advised to find alternative routes for at least the rest of the day.
