OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Washington Supreme Court has ruled in favor of University of Washington’s emergency motion to stay in the Pac-12 case.

Washington State University and Oregon State University, the two remaining members of the Pac-12, filed the instant action to remove all departing schools from board membership.

On Sept. 11, they were recently granted a temporary restraining order. This gave WSU and OSU full control of the Pac-12.

Then on Nov. 14, OSU and WSU were granted a motion to:

prohibit the Pac-12 Conference and its board of directors from recognizing as board members any person other than the board representatives of WSU and Oregon Stateprohibits the board from holding any meeting that includes representatives from Pac-12 Conference member schools that have communicated their intent to withdraw from the conferenceprohibits the board from allowing any representatives of the withdrawing schools to attend, participate, or vote in any board meeting

With this filed, the University of Washington has filed an emergency motion “for a stay of the injunction pending direct discretionary review of the superior court’s order.”

But in light of the foregoing considerations, the emergency motion for a stay in the Pac-12 was granted for UW. They entered a TRO on Sept. 11 which will remain in effect.

There will now be an expediated timeline for parties to meet, discuss and respond to this motion. Any replies to this motion needs to be filed by Dec. 12.
