SPOKANE, Wash. – The West Plains Water Coalition will host a meeting regarding PFAS, or “forever chemicals,”
The Nov. 18 meeting will be hosted at The Hub in Airway Heights from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Whitman College associate professor of sociology Alissa Cordner will speak at the event. She wrote the 2016 book “Toxic Safety: Flame Retardants, Chemical Controversies, and Environmental Health.”
Her research focuses on environmental health and justice issues.
“Dr. Cordner’s talk will explain the national context of PFAS contamination, including scientific advances, drinking water safety regulations, and funding for testing and cleanup activities,” the Water Coalition said in a press release.
