What you need to know before you attend the Fairchild Air Force Base annual Skyfest

SPOKANE, Wash. – Skyfest is this weekend at Fairchild Air Force Base, and there is a lot you should know before you leave your house. All of this information is coming from the directors of Skyfest.

It’s a full-day event, with Saturday and Sunday following the exact same schedule of events.

Gates open at 9 a.m., the show starts at 11 a.m., ends at 3 p.m., and the gates close at 4 p.m.

There will be lots of traffic entering and exiting, as directors are expecting tens of thousands to attend, so it’s a good idea to leave early and plan to be home late. Expect to be busy from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the very least.

They are not checking everyone’s ID at the door, but it is a good idea to have at least one form of ID on you in case you need it.

It’s advisable to bring sunscreen, water, and hearing protection. Wear comfortable clothes because you could be walking quite a bit throughout the day.

There won’t be any childcare, but there will be activities for kids.

Skyfest is a cashless event. There will be a reverse ATM available, but keep in mind that most vendors will only accept cards.

There will be cones and airmen guiding you throughout the day to ensure nobody goes where they are not supposed to.

There is a clear-bag policy at this event and a list of prohibited items can be found here.
