RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina’s new governor is planning to give his inauguration speech indoors in a televised address after the outdoor public ceremony was canceled due to forecasts for snow, sleet and freezing rain. Democratic Gov. Josh Stein’s remarks will be streamed by North Carolina public television on Saturday and are likely to be more extensive than the brief speech he made after taking his oath of office on Jan. 1. He has signaled that Hurricane Helene recovery will be a top priority. North Carolina inauguration ceremonies were also dealt setbacks in 2017 due to winter weather and 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
