Wolf moon to eclipse Mars for sky gazers on East Coast

0

The first full moon of the year, known as the wolf moon, will create a celestial spectacle as it appears to pass in front of Mars on Monday.

Sky gazers on the East Coast can witness this event when Mars disappears behind the moon just after 9:00 p.m. Eastern time and reappears at 10:30 p.m.

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, January’s full moon is called the wolf moon because wolves are most active during this time of year and can be heard howling on cold winter nights.

This unique astronomical event offers an opportunity for enthusiasts to observe the moon and Mars in a rare alignment.
