SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Deputies arrested a woman for drunk driving after she reportedly hit a bicyclist in Spokane Valley.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, on Thursday at approximately 5 p.m., a bicycle was crossing a roadway in North Sullivan Road and East Mission Avenue when a white pickup truck struck the cyclist and fled the scene. Deputies found the bicyclist lying on the road, bleeding from his head.
The victim was transported to the hospital for further treatment and evaluation of his injuries, which appeared to be non-life-threatening.
After an investigation, deputies identified the suspect based on witness statements and video surveillance footage. At around 5:30 p.m., they located the suspect’s vehicle during a traffic stop near Broadway and Sullivan. The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Lisa Winnop, showed signs of impairment, including watery, bloodshot, droopy eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol.
Deputies said that Winnop declined to take a field sobriety test, and deputies arrested her on probable cause for felony hit and run and DUI. She was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for felony hit and run and DUI.
