CLARKSTON, Wash. – A true cat burglar! A woman was arrested after she reportedly stole two cats worth $2,000.
According to court documents, a Clarkston police officer received a call about the stolen cats from a home on Fourth Street. Police later spotted the missing cats in a Facebook post on the LC Bad Drivers page, where they were seen in the back of a car.
The cats were described as gray with tiger stripes on their backs. Police contacted the suspect, Samantha Rager, 33, who admitted to having the cats, which were eventually returned to their owner without incident. Rager claimed it was supposed to be a joke and that the situation was “all blown out of proportion.”
Court documents said that the owners stated Rager did not have permission to enter their home or take the cats for a joy ride. They reported she had never been to their house before.
Police said they recommended charges of residential burglary, two counts of second-degree theft and two counts of taking pets, according to court records. Her bond was set at $15,000 on Friday in Asotin County Superior Court.
