Woman steals car and leads police on a chase blocking Division

SPOKANE, Wash. – Law enforcement chased a woman who stole a car and crashed on Division, shutting down all southbound lanes Friday morning.

On Friday morning, the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office said they witnessed a car being stolen in the Loon Lake area and attempted to stop the driver.The suspect fled southbound on US-395 from SR-292 as deputies followed. They advised Spokane County Sheriff’s Office and Washington State Patrol as the suspect crossed into Spokane.Deputies attempted to stop the woman with spike strips at US-395 and Dragoon but failed.Law enforcement continued the chase into town and ended it with another spike strip near Division and Magnesium, followed by a PIT maneuver from WSP.The woman then hit a patrol car before being arrested.WSP said the woman is facing charges of felony eluding, possession of stolen property, and 2nd degree assault for hitting a deputy’s car.The incident shut down all southbound lanes of Division near Magnesium, and one lane has since reopened as they work to clear the scene.NonStop Local has a reporter on scene working to get more information and updates.
