Woman who allegedly burned down Sandpoint Army Surplus ruled unfit to stand trial

SANDPOINT, Idaho – The woman accused of burning down the Sandpoint Army Surplus store was ruled unfit to stand trial and has been civilly committed.

Jennifer Meyer is accused of ending the four decade run of a local business.

Meyer was declared unfit to stand trial due to a lack of capacity to make informed decisions on Wednesday. She is now under the custody of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

Civil commitment orders are not the same as facing trial, but they do curtail the civil rights of the person declared mentally unfit to stand trial.
