Yakima PD vandalism suspect arrested

YAKIMA, Wash.-A man suspected of vandalizing the YPD building on the night of Dec. 11 has been arrested.

According to probable cause documents from Yakima County Superior Court, a 25-year-old Terrace Heights man, was arrested on Dec. 16 after calling YPD and admitting to the vandalism.

The suspect reportedly said, “I would like to turn myself in for breaking the windows at the Police Department,” according to court documents.

YPD then responded to the suspect’s location in Terrace Heights and took him into custody, although he has not yet been charged.

Police services are closed due to vandalism at the Yakima Police Department.

While Municipal Court will be open, the Richard Zais Justice Center will have limited access, according to the YPD.

The Municipal Court and YPD Services window will be closed until further notice and all other access to the building will be limited to scheduled appointments with Yakima’s Legal Department, according to a YPD social media post.
